چکیده
The objective of this paper is to study the surface texture behavior low and medium-carbon steels machine elements in acidic environment using Abbott Firestone curve depending upon MATLAB software. chemical composition low-carbon steel 0.16C-0.27Si-1.47Mn-0.02Al while 0.49C-0.30Si-0.91Mn-0.03Al. They were hot-rolled at 1200°C for 30 min followed by air cooling. Two different heat treatment processes applied on samples. first was quenching after martensite finish (QAMf) second one partitioning (Q&P). For 0.16C, microstructure gives bands ferrite pearlite steel. However, 0.49C produces coarse islands surrounded phase. While, QAMf Q&P contain ferrite, bainite, lath martensite, retained austenite 0.16C steel, polygonal respectively. In (0.16C), hot-rolling, suffers from exploitation zone (44%) texture. QAMf, (0.16C) lower (36%). addition, 40% voids increases 52% (0.49C), 78% Furthermore, slightly enhances (exploitation zone) 82%. At same time, exhibit very small number (1–4%). Therefore, (hot-rolled QAMf) highly subjected severe failure etchy environment. Q&P) recommended case moderate safety factor.

Behavior of Vertical Boundary Elements in Steel Plate Shear Walls
The AISC Seismic Provisions and CSA S-16 Standard require a minimum moment of inertia for the vertical boundary elements (VBEs) in steel plate shear walls (SPSWs) to avoid undesirable VBE behaviors. The equation limiting VBE flexibility has been derived from a flexibility factor, ωt, developed in plate girder theory and the limit on VBE flexibility has been empirically specified based on previo...
متن کاملStatic Strain Aging Behavior of Low Carbon Steel Drawn Wire
The static strain aging is a phenomenon that can change the mechanical properties of low carbon steels. Thus, the static strain aging behavior of low carbon steel wires after drawing process is studied. To do so, the wires are austenitized at different temperatures and cooled in different rates. Then the wires are drawn and aged at a specific temperature and time. Before and after aging of each...
متن کاملMicrobially induced corrosion of carbon steel in deep groundwater environment
The metallic low and intermediate level radioactive waste generally consists of carbon steel and stainless steels. The corrosion rate of carbon steel in deep groundwater is typically low, unless the water is very acidic or microbial activity in the environment is high. Therefore, the assessment of microbially induced corrosion of carbon steel in deep bedrock environment has become important for...
متن کاملFatigue Behavior Optimization of the 16MnCr5 Steel Used in Machine Tool Spindle via Different Surface Treatments
Since the sub-axis of machine tool spindles subjected to fatigue loading, the effects of different surface heat treatments on fatigue behavior of 16MnCr5 steel have been investigated in the current work. After the test specimens were prepared from the steel, the surface heat treatments; carburizing, carbonitriding and a practical type of treatment involving the first nitriding then carburizing ...
متن کاملSemiconducting Behavior of Carbon Steel in Electrolyte Solution
In this paper, the semiconducting behavior of carbon steel in acid, base and salt solutions was studied by utilizing potential-capacitance and Mott-Schottky analysis. It was pointed out that the capacitance variation of space charge layer of carbon steel in different solution was different. The carbon steel showed p-type semiconducting behavior in 5% sulfuric acid and 5% sodium sulfate solution...
